April 24 – Earth Day Celebration & Opening of Bisbee Farmers Market
Join us from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm for fresh spring produce, grass-fed meats, farm-fresh eggs, honey, pickles, jams, and plants galore for landscaping or starting a vegetable garden; information on solar ovens, solar cookbooks for sale; information on water harvesting and recycling; handmade arts and crafts and flea market items; live music all day by Market favorites; coffee and baked goods; wonderful food for breakfast, lunch or snacks. Plant Sales and Gardening Demonstrations
May 8 – Sierra Vista Garden Club Spring Plant Sale
Huge semi-annual plant sale by Sierra Vista Area Garden Club with plants for every taste including native, drought tolerant varieties, veggie and herb starts and seeds. Talk with the Water Wise folks and learn about drip irrigation. Listen to music by Vince Robel.
May 15 – Fibre Arts Festival
Pet a lamb. Watch a sheep being sheared and see its fleece spun into yarn. The Bisbee Fine Arts Guild will demonstrate spinning, weaving and knitting and other ways to use natural fibers. Visit a variety of booths to talk with the experts on natural fibers; see their yarns, fabrics and crafts. Purchase some knitting needles and a ball of yarn and take up a new hobby! May 22 – Come to the Worm and Compost Fest
Hear all about composting with red worms; it’s amazing what these little critters can do to assist you to with your recycling and feed your plants. Buy some worms and start a worm farm of your own. Learn about different ways to compost in your back yard–everything from a small worm farm to feed your houseplants to several bins to feed a large garden. Talk with experienced composters, and novice composters as well, ask questions, get answers and share your own experiences.

Learn about Growing Succulents and Solar Cooking
June 5 – Water Wise Day
Meet Mark Sitter from B&B Cactus and learn about his “Sensational Succulents”. Take some home to add to your landscaping or grow in a pot. Listen to Music by In Ascent.
June 12 – 8th Annual Summer Solstice Solar Cook-off and Expo
Learn how to cook with the sun! Buy a solar ovens at a discount or buy plans and make your own. Get a solar cookbook. Bring your solar oven, enter the cook-off and win a prize; then join the solar chefs for a potluck lunch. Find out what else the sun can do for you. Meet Petey Mesquitey from Spadefoot Nursery and learn which of our wonderful native plants are best for your own garden and landscape. Listen to music by In Ascent.
August 21 – Chile Roasting and Salsa-making Contest
This is one of our biggest events of the year. Get freshly roasted chiles! Enter the Salsa Contest and win the $50 prize! Bring your home-made salsa to the Market Information Booth, along with the recipe. Recipes will be kept secret until after the judging and be available for hand-out at the August 28 Market. September is Fall Gardening Month
September 4 – Antique Cars and Bikes Show
Do your shopping, have a cup of coffee and a bite to eat and check out some interesting old cars and motorcycles.
September 18 – Annual Bisbee Farmers Market Pie Baking Demonstration and Contest
Bake your favorite pie and bring it and the recipe to the Market Information Booth by 10:00 AM. The prize is $50. Attend the Pie Baking Demonstration at 10:00 am. Contest winner will be announced at 11:00 am; taste the pie entries after the prize is awarded.
September 25 – Sierra Vista Garden Club Fall Sale
Semi-annual plant sale by the Sierra Vista Garden Club; choose from a selection of both indoor and outdoor plants; talk with Master Gardeners regarding plant problems and gardening information.
October is Healthy Cooking with the Market Month
Chili Cook-Off, Mesquite Pot Luck, Pumpkin Cook-Off
October 2 – Blessing of the Animals and Pet Parade
Bring your pets in an appropriate carrier or on an appropriate leash and have them blessed in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. Listen to music by In Ascent.
October 9 – Second Annual Chili Cook-Off
Get your name in the pot! Win the $50 prize! Bring your home-made chili to the Bisbee Farmer’s Market, along with the recipe. Recipes will be kept secret until after the judging and be available for hand-out at the October 16 Market. Vince Robel will be playing wonderful music under the “Social Tree”. October 23 – Mesquite Milling and Pot Luck
Bring your mesquite seeds with you to be ground into flour. Bring your dish made with mesquite to share at the pot luck.
October 30 – 2nd Annual Pumpkin Cook-Off
Enter the contest and win the prize! Cook or bake something with pumpkin in it. Bring it to the Market Information Booth by 10:30 am. Recipes will be kept secret until after the judging. Taste the entries after the prize is awarded.
November is Winter Gardening Month
Gray Water Harvesting, Fall Produce Cooking Demonstration, Holiday Fair
November 13 – Greywater Use
At noon walk over to the corner of Arizona Street and Congdon Avenue and learn how you can use this great water source for your landscaping. Listen to great music by Bisbee’s own Vince Robel.
